Description

This essential Down Coat is the ultimate in warmth and comfort, featuring 80% insulating down, an adjustable hood and easily accessible dual entry pockets. The flat surface gives this coat a sleeker look than other lumpy styles. A longer mid-thigh cut keeps the bottoms of your other winter layers from poking out. The navy or black color looks more natural when paired for warmth with town clothes. Design Details Waterproof Outer Shell Outer shell has waterproof coating. Wear in light to heavy snow; not meant to be worn in the rain. Closure This parka closes with a hidden YKK zipper with a buttoned storm flap overlay. Hood Oversized hood is adjustable with the drawstring cords. Drawstring The adjustable interior drawstring at the waist helps to provide a custom fit. Pockets Keep your daily essentials safe with the front dual entry flap pockets, chest pockets, and interior pockets. Cuffs The comfortable knit inset cuffs prevent cold wind from entering the sleeves. Size Chart/How to Measure: *Please use our size chart, not Amazon's* How to Measure: Overarm: For suit jackets and sport jackets only, measure your arms at the highest point of the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the arms. If the difference between the chest and the overarm measurement is greater than 7 inches, order the next larger size. Chest: Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping tape up under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep your arms relaxed. Waist: Measure around the waist where you normally wear your pants (measure over your shirt, but not over slacks or belt). Neck (Collar): Take a well-fitting dress shirt, lay the collar flat and measure from the center of the neck button to the beginning of the buttonhole. Sleeve: With forearm parallel to the chest, measure from the center back of the neck around the elbow to the wrist bone. You can also use a well-fitting shirt, fold at the center of the shoulder and measure the same as above.

I like this coat a lot. The outer shell is made of a thick material that does not look like it can rip easily. It feels like a good quality fabric. It's very warm. All the buttons, zippers and snaps look sturdy. It has a good assortment of pockets, but I do have some complaints there. The lower hand warmer pockets are not easy to use, but I just stick my hands in the front lower flap pockets. The upper hand warmer pockets are awkard, and not very useful. They do have a single snap, so perhaps can be used for storage, but small items could easily fall out. There are two inner vest pockets. The left one has a zipper and is a useful pocket for wallet, keys or a phone. The right pocket is an awkward pocket that looks meant for a phone or media player. It seems to have a wire guide for headphones. It's too weird shaped to use for other things, except maybe to keep small objects, like your keys. I would have preferred a copy of the left side pocket. A standard vest pocket could have just as easily been used for a media player, and served other purposes as well. I was thinking of taking one star away for this, but it's not the big a deal. It's just the only negative I can point at. Otherwise, it's a great warm coat.As far as appearance goes, there's nothing worthy of note here. It's a somewhat average looking. I got the navy blue one. If looks are important, then move on, but if cold weather protection is important, then you're looking at the right product.I'm about 200lbs and 5'9". I got the size XL, which is what I usually wear, and it's just a bit on the large side, but not too bad. The sleeves are the perfect length. I actually prefer to have extra room for layers in a winter coat.EDIT: I changed my mind about the upper hand warmer pockets. They're useful as hand warmer pockets, but still a bit awkward.EDIT2: But I'm more annoyed about the right internal vest pocket that seems to be designed for a media player. I can't use it for anything. It's just too awkward. My phone doesn't even fit. They should have just included a regular vest pocket like the left one. It was a dumb idea to make a special type of pocket. When it arrives, it's compressed in the box, and you might think it's not substantial enough to be warm. Once the feathers have had a few days to settle, it fills out. The coat also has a nice heft to it, so it's definitely substantial.
